Do not settle for what you don’t want.

It may be the case that women can remain single these days until they find a man with whom they are compatible. Similarly, men can remain single until they find a woman with whom they are compatible. Gone are the days when women had to settle for men that they don’t want. Unfortunately, people often are attracted to the wrong person and end up in a relationship that neither of them want. It’s better to be single and enjoying life than tied to someone for whom you are settling, possibly out of some need to have a partner in your life.

I was inspired to write about this because of Chris Newman’s recent post. I could be called a liberal cowboy, I can read books without pictures, I can change an alternator – lord knows I changed one just today. But, despite Mr. Newman’s claim, I sure as heck have never had the interest of any woman in marrying me at any time in my life. There’s much more to being valuable to a woman than being economically stable, handy, loyal, intelligent and funny. The consistent pursuit of doing fun and interesting activities is more important than all those things, and it’s more fun to do those activities with someone than alone.
